Track shared expenses, split bills fairly, and save together
Industry:

Project Status:
Design Phase

TuGet is a friendly “piggy-bank” mobile app that helps people track shared expenses, split bills fairly, and save together; Starting with a no-auth solo experience and stepping up to deep collaboration only when trusted.
My Role
Product Designer (Solo)
Project type
Fintech

Outcome
Built a privacy-first, group-first shared-finance concept that validates immediate solo value and progressive collaboration, designed to convert casual users into collaborative groups with minimal friction.

Problem statement
People sharing expenses rely on fragmented tools (notes, Venmo memos, spreadsheets). Existing apps force sign-up and create friction, or they don’t support groups beyond couples. The core problem: show clear, immediate value (who paid what; who owes whom) with the least friction and scale to multi-person groups while preserving user trust and privacy.

Users & primary use cases
Solo users who want a personal ledger or subscription tracker.
Roommates splitting recurring bills (rent/utilities).
Families saving toward shared goals.
Friends splitting ad-hoc expenses (dinners, trips).
Small teams pooling funds for events.

Core features I designed
Splash → Quick Demo → Solo Home
Create Group modal (Name, Type, Currency, invite options).
Transaction quick-edit drawer (3 taps to recategorize & re-split).
Bill creation & split (slider + presets + numeric fallback).
Fairness Dashboard (pie + per-person timeline + filters).
IOU share page (minimal public view + pay buttons).

Conclusion
I framed TuGet around a single behavioral insight: "people need to feel value before they trust a finance app". I designed a product that respects privacy, delivers immediate solo value, and scales gently into collaborative features when trust exists. The result is a focused, testable MVP that converts curiosity into collaboration without sacrificing user control; a product stance that balances growth with user respect.
